Grand Prix – the drivers

Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso know that Mobil 1™ lubricants help to reduce friction and wear in all the moving parts of their cars. What does this mean to them? More power in their hands and increased engine reliability on the track.

"Using Mobil 1 engine oil allows us to run the engine hotter. The advantage to me is that we can reduce drag on the straights and increase downforce in the corners for faster lap times, giving us more opportunities to overtake and win races."

– Jenson Button

Jenson arrived at McLaren-Honda as reigning world champion in 2010 and immediately got off to a great start with wins in Australia and China. The following year, he claimed victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in spectacular fashion and won two further races to finish second in the FIA Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship. He achieved similar success in 2012, winning in Australia, Belgium and Brazil. In 2014, Jenson completed his 4th season for the McLaren-Honda Formula 1 team, finishing 8th in the drivers' championship.

"It is very important for me and for the whole team to have partners like Mobil 1 that are passionate about racing and have the desire to win."

– Fernando Alonso

As McLaren rekindled its iconic partnership with Honda in 2015, two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso also made a sensational return to the team he first joined in 2007. With over 30 career wins, 20 pole positions and 90 podium finishes to his name, Fernando took on the challenge of winning his third career championship and returning McLaren-Honda to the top step of the podium.
