Mobil 1™ – Technology partner of TRD

Toyota Racing Development car on the racetrack

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) made their first appearance in the NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series in 2007. And when TRD entered the big leagues of stock car racing, they needed a big league, race-proven motor oil to match. The Mobil 1 team’s winning history in NASCAR® showed that they could offer TRD a competitive advantage – the unique formulation of Mobil 1™ motor oil.

With averages of 9,000 rpm and 725 hp, the V-8 engines of NASCAR® endure punishing conditions during each race. See how Mobil 1™ synthetic motor oil delivers exceptional performance and protection – under extreme stress – in the lubrication system of the Generation-6 Toyota Camry. Mobil 1 technology, which helps race cars go faster, is transferred to products used in road cars.

Championship results for a NASCAR® newcomer

Having entered the Camping World Truck Series in 2004, Toyota became the first new engine manufacturer in more than 50 years to compete full time in one of the top three levels of NASCAR® competition. It was easy to see that TRD’s racing profile was on the rise. TRD then joined the field for the NASCAR® XFINITY Series and Sprint Cup Series in 2007, welcoming the challenge of competing against teams with more than 60 years of racing experience at those levels.

In 2010, TRD’s first-class Mobil 1 technology partnership quickly got them up to speed. TRD experienced unprecedented success with Mobil 1™ advanced full synthetic motor oil supporting its high-performance V-8 engines; Mobil 1 motor oil helped maximize engine efficiency and improve lap times for the Generation-6 Toyota Camry. More pole positions led to more race wins, culminating in 2015 with TRD’s first NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series championship.
