A Grand Prix race car engine can rev up to 15,000 rpm. The motor oil endures temperatures of up to 300 degrees Celsius/572 degrees Fahrenheit and the gearbox experiences up to 3,000 gearshifts per race. Our job isn’t easy under these circumstances. Mobil 1™ lubricants separate and cool more than 300 moving parts, withstand engine forces thousands of times greater than the force of gravity and protect against stresses generated from a car with a total output of approximately 1,000 brake horsepower (bhp).

Mobil 1™ motor oil

1

Reducing engine friction is essential to maximizing power and performance. Special motor oils are developed to help provide increased power and improve engine efficiency.

Mobilube 1 SHC™ racing gear oil

2

Provides reduced fluid traction losses, helps improve gearbox efficiency and helps in delivering more power to the rear wheels.

Mobilith SHC™ 1500 grease

3

Lubricates the four tripod joints on the drive shafts, resisting the high temperatures generated by the exhaust and braking systems.

Mobilith SHC™ 220 grease

4

Minimizes rolling resistance in the car's ceramic wheel bearings to help maximize speed.

Esso Synergy™ racing fuel

5

Helps provide improved engine power and reduced power degradation during the life of the engine. Esso Synergy racing fuel is also developed to maximize energy content and reduce engine knock to help improve engine efficiency.

Mobil SHC™ hydraulic oil

6

Running at over 200 bar and 100 degrees Celsius/212 degrees Fahrenheit, this fluid is an essential part of the hydraulic system, which controls gear shift, the throttles, operation of the Drag Reduction System (DRS) and steering systems.
